From the Tulsa World:

_When Alton Jones of Waco, Texas won the 38th annual Bassmaster Classic on South Carolina’s Hartwell Lake several weeks ago, he was well aware that it would bring some celebrity status and national acclaim. He just never expected a call from the President of the United States.

“President Bush first congratulated me for the victory, and said it just showed what a lot of hard work could accomplish,” the 44-year-old angler said in a recent statement. “We ended up talking about bass fishing quite a bit.”

But that wasn’t the end of the phone call. The president invited Jones and his family to visit him at the White House._
