Earlier this month, Donnie Simmons of Pass Christian, MS, set a new state record with a 99-pound amberjack caught during the 58th Annual Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo. After that fish was weighed in, Simmons said, “Our goal is to get a triple-digit amberjack.” And lo and behold, he has done just that, landing a 106-plus-pounder and setting the new state record for the second time in one month.
