Seized Firearms Returned: Some Katrina victims get guns back; most still waiting

After authorities confiscated firearms from law-abiding citizens in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the NRA and other gun-rights groups sued the city of New Orleans. That lawsuit was dropped, however, when city officials agreed to give the guns back. Police began that process this week, but it has gone less than smoothly. So far only 17 of 700 guns have been returned, according to this Associated Press story, and some owners are convinced they will never get their property back.
