TRCP Sues Interior Department Over Wyoming Wells

While the NRA thanks President Bush for support of hunting, wildlife, and habitat, the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership is suing the Bush Administration’s Interior Department over a recent BLM action authorizing accelerated energy development they say ignores the needs of sportsmen, wildlife, and habitat in Wyoming’s Atlantic Rim.

According to the linked press release, the federal government’s own environmental impact statement concluded that “the [area’s] natural setting would be converted to an industrialized setting by development” for multiple generations and that “implementation of the [project] would have adverse impact to suitable habitat for many wildlife species.” Despite this, the BLM authorized 2,000 new oil and gas wells, along with 1,000 miles of road and 1,000 miles of pipeline in the area.
