Why Guns Are Not Toys

"A Really Stupid and Futile Gesture"
That immortal phrase from Animal House pretty well describes the wretched antics that you may view here at your leisure. If Steve Irwin had been a shooter, he might have done something like this.

For some reason, it reminds me of the story a friend told me about his days as a salesman for a prominent maker of military small arms. He would travel from country to country, put on shooting exhibitions for the local cops/military, and write orders.

On one occasion he went to Pakistan, and was told to be at a certain airport at 7AM for his demonstration. When he got there, there were a lot of guys in uniform, but nothing to shoot at.

“They’ll be here in a minute,” he was told, and sure enough, a bus rolled up loaded with wretches from the local prison. They were herded out of the bus and onto the tarmac, where they stood in a line, awaiting whatever was coming, which in this case was going to be a hail of lead.

“Let’s see what you can do,” said his hosts, but my friend declined, and did not sell any guns that day.
