The Bahamas and fly fishing community as a whole lost one of its most gregarious and fun-loving members today. Ivan Neymour passed away from complications of a stroke at the age of 67 on Andros Island. Ivan had been guiding on Andros for 35 years and was one of the first independent guides in the Bahamas.

I had the pleasure of fishing with Ivan and his son Dwain a couple years ago in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and was subsequently invited to fish with them at their lodge Tranquility Hill for a week on Andros. I will forever remember Ivan calling mountain whitefish – bonefish and the trees that lined the banks of the South Fork -mangroves.

This small post is the least I can do for the memory of Ivan. My life, and I’m sure many others were truly fuller for meeting and fishing with Ivan.

He will be missed.
