Question by fisher girl. Uploaded on September 05, 2009
That's going to be hard to answer without speakin the language. I would say they do like cut bait (perch, shad, shrimp), earth worms, liver, stinkbait and a few more critters that may hit the water. I use mostly live perch when I ccatfish, then cutbait for a backup. I've even caught good numbers of catfish by hooking minnows on troutlines. Good luck with whatever bait u use.
Why do you ask about baby channel cats? I fish for catfish all the time channel, blue or flathead. If you want any of the catfish especially channel cats, continue using worms, or liver (I use both on the same hook). You might want to use a smaller hook but I wouldn't. Nothing wrong with catching the daddy catfish.
Catching the daddy catfish is fun, but we have a couple baby catfish that we want to raise, and one is to small to eat the minnows we put in there. I wanted to know what to feed it.
You can feed it liver or even hot dogs. If you have them in a tank, be sure to keep a little current moving through the tank, as the channels love moving water.
i have caught baby channels on numerous things like liver, worms, etc even wax worms but one thing that have used that suprised me piece of bubble gum so it really just depends on where your from and what thier bitin on
If you are feeding them in an aquarium a standard gold fish food will be fine.
good call beekeeper
i live in mississippi and i like to use bloodworms from canada, or chicken liver.
small bits of liver, and the best is good old CORN right out of the can.
Try waxworms or maggots. If you don't mind putting them in your fridge they keep until they're used up,and they're the right size. Please don't use bubblegum. Not good for the fish.
As an avid catman,I'd say worms, spinners, stinkbait, cutbait, and hot dogs.all the small cats(babies)I've caught where on worms, spinners,or hot dogs, but what size the many missed cats where is known but to God.
i used to have 2 small channel cats in my goldfish pond and they sure enjoyed the goldfish while they lasted...after that i fed them worms, chicken pieces, and other chucks of meat that i was making for summer
