Q:
I posted a question yesterday about fishing in Alaska and recieved some good responses for Saltwater charters. I'd also like to do a day or two guided trip for Salmon in rivers. Pinks and Chums are okay. I am just looking to catch and release some fish without a crowd. Any tips in that regard?

during the spawning time you can catch them in most places with a pink spoon but i guess every time ive been up there i just went fishing in the ocean at prince wiliam sound
Rent a car and drive north out of Anchorage on the parks highway. Every few miles the road crosses streams and rivers that team with Salmon and trout. If you don't mind walking you can get away from the crowds. Use quality tackle and cast pink spoons, weighted streamer flies and spinners. You should catch plenty of fish. Don't forget wadders, pepper spray and strong insect repellent. Stop someplace and get a copy of the fishing regs because they vary for each stream. BTW Shipp creek runs right thru Anchorage and has a good run of fish.
