A small to medium sized black body and silver spinner rooster tail seems to be a constant preformer for Rainbows, cutthroat, and small mouth. It is usually hard to beat in the lakes, rivers, and streams in my area.
Count down rapala. I have caught trout from creeks to big reservoirs with them. Toss it downstream and bring it slowly up through a pool. Cast it from the bank on a lake or troll it behind.
I also love Panther Martins, and rooster tails.
I also like small black curly tails for trout.
Wooly bugger. You don't need a fly rod, just put it 3 feet behind a bubble.
Panther Martins are great but i also like to use Little Cleos because they are lead free and you can use them in the national parks as long as you remove the barb change the hook.
Hildebrandt spinners, Joe's spinners both have trout flies on them and you can change them out for different patterns. Also try little bean snaps, they're tiny lures and they catch big fish.
rooster tails are the ways to go or blue fox vibrax in line spinners are good to but if im going for trout im always taking some powerbait even though i know its not a lure, its a bait
Blue Fox Vinbrax's in gold, silver, and brass colors. I like to use the gold in the morning and evening, the silver when the sun is bright, and the brass color on overcast days. With these three colors your definetly covered.
Rooster tails. I love the yellow ones for brown trout, I have tried several other lures, but none have out competed the yellow rooster tail. My second favorite would have to be blue fox vibrex copper color. Also seems to work great for brown trout, and does a little bit better in faster water.
I love Panther Martin's, but overall, I've caught more trout w/ Rooster Tails. I keep a vast, and I mean VAST collection of both in my tacklebox, cuz trout are finicky buggers.
everybody uses spinners but i really think that copper castmasters are the best lures ever for trout of all species. All you need are a few different sizes for them then hold on tight!
Trout magnets and berkley gulp worms on a trout magnet hook are good for stocked trout, also pins minnows work good in stocked streams as well. If you are fishin in a larger stream or river that holds bigger trout, try a lucky craft pointer american shad pattern, or a smithwick rogue in a silver pattern. Big browns wear em out.
lucky lady artificial cheese worm, use a very small hook and two bb size split shots. tear the cheese worm in half and insert the small hook in where you tore the worm. pull the hook out on the flat side of the worm like your fishin a jig. reel slowly an twitch it across the pool any way. trout love em
For steelhead, my no. 1 lure is an about 2 in. storm minnow imitation in shad pattern. It almost always produces strikes for me and last year, I caught a 28 incher with it.
Wylde Edge Outfitters are my favorite spinners, they give great action i like the dressing on the hooks, they are also made in the USA.
That and any tiny crank bait just because they are fun to run through the local trout pond.

One lure that has always worked for me is a bluefox vibrax 3/16oz or smaller, they have a great action they really seem to get the trout biting.
