Q:
I live in northwest Missouri around relatively thick forest. I was wondering whether old splotch military fatigues would work?

You should be fine if you can sit without movement. Stay away from the color blue. Deer see blue quite well in my experience.

any camo pattern that breaks up colors or shapes is likely to be effective, especially the generic military patterns... and like Del said, movement is more important than the pattern you choose.

I've said it before, the best camo pattern is whatever you're wearing with you sitting dead still.

Any neutral/natural looking colors will be fine for hunting, any camo is even better, and probably just as good as the latest pattern in most cases.

Almost any camo pattern works well if we keep our movement to nothing. The camo people like to come up with the "super" pattern to get our hard earned dollars. When I got out of the military all I had was G.I. camo. Worked well. Good Luck.
