Along with the camo, try to find a tree that has a good back drop. Branches or other trees around it. Try to break up your silouette. Find a camo that has some dark and some lighter colors.

If you can go higher in the tree, and the best all around camo I have found is Realtree AP.

Also, it depends on what color the leaves/foliage are. If it's green, wear green camo, and if it's brown and all of those other fall colors, wear brownish camo.

Deer are color blind. Be still and use the wind. Break up your outline.

Depends on where you hunt, and what type of tree or cover is close by. Where I hunt, mossy oak break up, and the treestand I think its called work great for me.

The best camo pattern is you sitting dead still. Are your face and hands covered?

A ghile suit matching the terrain is the best.

I fould camo color doesn't do much for me. It's just how much I move while in the stand that gets me in trouble. I've been in blue jeans before and had deer on me, and I've been in full camo and had deer run from me. It's how I move and smell that bust me.

buy whatever camo resembles your hunting area best...for example dont use a grassy duck blind pattern in a evergreen forest

I'm not a big camo fan. Sitting still in a 3pc suit is better than moving around in the worlds best camo.

i use realtree AP, but the fact is camo is camo, as long as it breaks up your outline then you are golden. pay attention to what is around you to assist in breaking up your outline (your backdrop and such). this isn't true for all animals such as turkey or duck, but for deer you could spray paint spots on you carhartts and they couldn't tell the difference.

I use Realtree AP too, but not moving is just as important as good camo , get a face mask and camo gloves.

it may not be your camo getting you busted, you can wear a blaze orange pumpkin suit and the deer wouldnt see you. it may be unneccesary movement that the deer see. deer see movement better than any thing. you got to be as still as possible and move in slow motion. and maybe try and beat their noses too.

I sincerely doubt that your camo pattern has anything to do with getting you busted. I have piled up deer while hunting in blaze orange and jeans. If you don't move, or if they can't smell you, they will not spook no matter where you are or what you are wearing. Most whitetail will walk right up to you if these are under control. I had the biggest buck I ever saw, walk right up the trail to within 5 feet of me. I was on the ground and sweating like a sow in heat after running through the trees to get in line for a shot. But I was downwind and I froze as soon as I heard him break a twig 200 yards away. Camo patterns are made to attract hunters and entice buying more than for getting deer. Now ducks, geese and coyotes are another story... they work by sight and camo that breaks up outline and blends with structure is everything.

Haha, I think I'm going to start a series where I hunt in a 3 piece suit with either a recurve or a very large rifle.

I like Realtree but it also helps to find a tree with a bunch of limbs so that you are not relying only on your clothes to blend in.

Another aspect of camo is light reflection. Synthetic material reflects a lot more light back to the animal's eyes than a natural material like wool.

Like a few folks have said above, sit still and mind you scent. I have killed many deer with my bow wearing only a grey T-shirt and black pants. If you can sit still and not sweat, most deer will never see what camo pattern your clothes are anyway.

Careful hunting is far more important as others have stated. A ghillie suit is the most effective camo outerwear.
