In between seasonal biology jobs, I spent some time working at Gander Mountain in the firearms department. The Bushnell Banner scopes are crap. Spend the extra money and get a Nikon prostaff...waterproof, fogproof, shockproof, and a lifetime warrentee. On top of that, they are fairly affordable ($120-200). Out of 171 reviews on Cabelas.com this thing rates a 4.8 out of 5!
I have one on a .22 that is just a plinker. It is OK until it fogs up. When I get some extra cash I will send it to a better place - the dumpster down the road from my farm. I'd give it to someone who needed a scope but I don't want to pass on a problem. BioGuy is talking truth there: get a Nikon and never look back.
All of these peoples scopes must have been messed up or something. But for folks like me that don't have tons of money they work great. I own 4 of them and they all perform beatifully. I have them on a .17hmr, .22lr, .223, and a muzzle loader. They all work great. I am able to shoot great groups with all of the guns with the Banner. If you are not rich this is the scope for you. By the way at basspro's web site the shotgun/muzzle loader banner got 4.5 out of 5 stars out of 15 reviews and the rifle ones got 4.2 from 19 people. And on cabel's site the rifle scope got 4.4 stars out of 67 reviews.
With banners you get what you pay for. I've had good results from bushnell trophy scopes, under 100.00 and no complaints, trophy scopes can be bought on ebay for around 50.00 new. I like the Elite series scopes, the water repalling coating is a great idea. I bought a bushnell excusion ex binocular, although it's no swarovski, it does have the clearest twilght capable lens for the money.
I had on Bushnell and I'll never buy another one. Mine was a Trophy on a 270 win. It would not stay sighted in. I have heard good things about the 3200 and 4200 though.
It is more true with rifle scopes than anything else. You get what you pay for.
If you want to save a few bucks get a fixed power 4X. I have a Leupold FXII 4 x 33 and I love it. I can see up to about 250 yards which is my max shot anyway.
i have one on my muzzleloader and my 12 ga. slug gun, not the best, but for the price they are pretty decent. Havent had any problems yet. Im a Nikon guy but on the muzzleloader and the shotgun (that i dont use that much) they work fine. I would like to get the Nikon muzzleloading scope though.

stay away from them leave it at the store
save the money toward a good quality scope like nikon or leapold
POS, trash it. Bushnell Elite series scopes are pretty good however.
2nd that on the Bushnell Elites. WaMtnhunter, how is the elk hunting going? Any luck? Hope it's all good for you.
Had one on a 22 once. It was a POS. The other guys are absolutely right the higher end Bushnells are good stuff as are their rangefinders.

Used them and never had a problem, I wouldn't put one on anything larger than a 30-06
Prefer Leupold.
