After a month of having no .22 rimfire cartridges suddenly yesterday my local Walmart has plenty of Winchester Mildcats (or is it Wildcats?). Anyway you can only buy six bricks at a time. It sounds like the supply is going fast but they expect more to arrive. Maybe production got caught up at least for now.
More I think about this situation, the more I truly believe we are being conditioned to not having ammo available. And possibly some entity has threatened the ammo manufacturers the same way Clinton did the Firearm companies!
The question is?
Is ammunition and the position of covered by the 2nd Amendment the same as firearms?
I'd say more like you should have started already, but better late than never. Some reloading components have doubled in price over the course of a couple of years, and I've had to find new "recipes" due to shortages. A buddy is thinking about building his own shot tower, but he's a bit extreme.
The prevailing opinion seems to agree that it's time to stock up, because shelves in my area of the Northwest seem to clear quickly of ammunition and reloading supplies.
Your guns are worthless without ammo, so keep enough on hand for each gun. If you dont use it, it wont go bad. Plus the longer you wait the more it will be. I saw .380 auto shells at the gun show last weekend for $75 per 100, and that is the only place I've een it for weeks now, its starting to become insame.
I would buy as much as you can. Here in NC ammo for handguns is hard to come by. I was thinking of buying a .357 but wont because I can not find any ammo for it.
I think you should always have a few hundred per gun,
deer rifles maybe only 40 or so but 223,308,45, 12 ga, 9mm etc you should have stocked year round.
And yes it is getting hard to find a LOT of the bullets that I shoot at Wally World but they are out in town if you beat the bushes for them. Also use your online resources they will have more than anyone else. Midway is doing a good job of keeping ammo available.
I have not been able to find much handgun ammo in NC, SC and the two places I went in Houston, TX earlier this month. I don't think this will continue forever. Right now we are all reacting to the swarm created by the election. I've got enough ammo for my deer rifles to last a long time and plenty of arrows. I stopped going to the range so I can hold on to the 500-600 FMJ's I've got left in 9mm.
Obama doesn't want to take away our weapons, just assualt weapons from unstable. It's all hype. While it's always good to have a large supply, if we all go out and buy it all, it will give Obama the message that we shouldn't be trusted. You don't need 3,000 bullets.
While I am not particularly worried about the feds taking my guns away, I have always thought it prudent to keep a stock and rotate it for any calibers I shoot. I would suggest that Blackpowder offers the remedy for bare shelf syndrome, casting bullets is kinda fun. Of course If you don't have access to powder, pyrodex or 777 you are still up the creek....but the bullets you can make just like yer great grandpappy.
i haven't seen any shortage of ammo while granted i buy most every thing from gander mountin but i always have a few hunderd shotgun shells and a few thousand 22. shells around
Not unless you want to go to prison... if this plays out similar to previous CHANGES that occured in countries like GERMANY, the government will make it illegal to own ammo... first they might make you bring in your ammo hord and get the bullets stamped as OK (like the state of ILLINOIS). Then they might limit the amount of ammo you can OWN. Then they might show up on your door step to search your house. THEN they might haul you off to create a fear of reprisal among society... sound familiar... check out a history book on good societies gone bad and brace for CHANGE.
I don't think Obama will do much against gun owners for now. Just to clarify, I DO NOT support him in any way, nor do I agree with any of his policies. His popularity has fallen too low for him to make such a drastic move. If he did that, he would most likely loose a lot of democratic Congress seats, which he does not want to do. If he were to make a move, it would most likely be in the last 2 years of his administration.
In this day and age you should be ready for anything and everything so if you have the extra cash you mine as well pick up a couple extra boxes of shells.
I don't think there is any need for stocking up. I work at a sporting store and the ammo is coming in just like it ever has. The only difference is the fact that we can't keep it on the shelves because of people hoarding it. There is no way that it will be banned.

Dude, where you been the past 6 months?
I have been in Michigan. I also have been in Florida a little too.
And I have been spending money on new guns and not ammo. Its time for ammo now. Plus I can't buy it without a person older then 18.

if you reload own ammo, buy cartridges and all the ingredients in bulk. buy a lot of it.

Only if you feel like paying more for it than you should while prices are sky high. Conserve while the panic lasts.

stocking up may get the message across to mr.obama to just walk away from it!
i like to buy some ammo everytime i go to the store of various calibers
Yes you should as long as you don't have to break the bank to do it.
Too late to decide that now, decision has been made for you. Empty shelves and limits of purchase amounts.
I always buy the limit on ammo anytime I go to the store
Too late.
