i've heard that the Winchester SX3 is really nice. You cant go wrong with a Beretta. And lately i've been hearing that the Remingtons are jam-o-matics.
I would have to say Remington 1100
I've hunted with a Beretta 390 for the last 6 years. Beretta makes awesome auto-loaders; you can't go wrong with any of them, and there are a number of choices/configurations depending on what you'll be hunting. This past December I bought an SBE 2. It's as good or better than the Berettas. I think it lives up to the hype, but the MSRP is really expensive. I'm not sure I could recommend buying one at full retail, but if you shop around, you can find them new on sale. The Browning Silvers are also really good guns and are less expensive. Routinely check the Beretta, Benelli, and Browning websites. They offer promotions and rebates with some regularity.
SBEs are unstoppable hunting machines. Mechanical versus gas action. Can also handle 3-1/2" shells, if you're into that. Mechanical recoil is a bit unusual but you get used to it quickly.
Benneli shotguns feel great, shoot awesome and never jam, if i could pick any auto off the shelf for myself it would be a Benneli.
i like Remington 1100
The Benelli line up is great, As is Beretta's. Both are worth the money over the long haul. But, if you find yourself short on cash there is another good option. The Stoeger 2000, I bought one at a couldn't pass it up price 3 years ago. It is a take off of the Benelli inertia action. Mine has fed anything from 1 1/8 oz target loads to 3 inch watefowl loads flawlessly. Beretta owns Benelli and Stoeger by the way.
I would check a Cabelas or your local gun shops and try to find a WinSX2 I love mine and the reoil is ni existant. Never had a problem either.
Browning A 5. :P I shoot a Winchester SX2 don't know what the difference is between that and the SX3 but mine shoots like a house a fire.
I've got a buddy that duck hunts a lot and he swears by his Mossberg 935. He says he's been hunting in pouring rain and watched buddies have to stop to clean there Berettas, Benelis and Remingtons while he keeps shooting. This includes his SBE that he lets his brother shoot.
Remington 11-87. I have one and never have had problems with it. (knock on wood)
Both of my ten year old SBEs have been excellent in every way. Point great and fires any shell I put in them. Very durable. I also had one of the first camo versions but it started chipping camo off the surface of the metal. I understand that was common for most manufacturers back in the nineties but not a factor anymore. Anyway I traded the camo SBE for a black one and kept on shooting, and shooting, and shooting...
Stoeger and H&R make very affordable autos. I have yet to shoot either, but I will bet you a million dollars that they work just as well as your average priced auto.
The input is greatly appreciated. At this point, im not "really" looking to buy one, but never say never eh?
i currently have a Nova in apg, and i love it so far.
Ish - you're right. My SBE pointed as well as my Model 12. Comes with shims for stock adjustment, too.
I love my SBE but if you have one be forwarned. The spring loaded recoil mechanism that is in the butt stock is made of steel and will rust. There is no way to get in there to clean it unless you are a gunsmith. New guns have stainless steel and there is a replacement part made of stainless for the old guns. Had to have mine replaced. If you buy a used SBE you want to check this out because the part alone costs over a 100 bucks.
i like the Franchi I-12. they're beautiful guns
From my own experience, it is the SBE II.
I own a winchester sx3 it is a great gun. The action is realy smooth and fast. Its a light gun but it has little recoil. I also own 11-87 and its also good gun but doesn't come close to speed of the sx3. Its a very easy gun to clean. In the field hunting it counld't get any better. Its not only a good gun its also a good looking gun. If you were to get an autoloader the sx3 is the one to get.
I OWN A BROWNING SWEET SIXTEEN, A REMINGTON MODEL 11 BUILT FROM 1905 THROUGH 1947 MINE WAS BUILT DEC 1922.IT IS ALSO KNOWN AS A BROWNING A5 IN THE SHOT GUN WORLD. I ALSO HAVE A MOSSBERG 500 12 GA FOR HOME PROTECTION. FOR MY MONEY I WOULD BUY THE MOSSBERG 930, ANY SET UP. I HAVE SHOT MY FRENDS 930 MANY TIMES I WOULD RENAME IT THE SWEET 930.
