Never buy your wife a second-class ANYTHING! When she figures out you bought her a cheap POS, you will not be happy. 'Cause when mamma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!
I would get her a good used Auto-5 in 20 ga. like yours but the price is steep if you can locate one in decent to excellent condition. A good used lightweight Remington M-1100 in 20 ga. is another excellent choice. All the new ones are fairly expensive save for the generic Benelli and I can't think of the manufacturer/importer just now. It has a reasonable price and I have been told is a good gun but have never shot one. My Benelli 20 ga. is a great shotgun with my only complaint that the receiver is extra longer due to the chambering for 3 inch shells. I would prefer a shorter receiver as anything besides upland and maybe ducks over decoys calls for my SBE anyway.
I agree with all the posters above . Try to find her a good used Browning if that what she likes. I learned a very long time ago that whatever I have my wife had better have equal or better quality if I want to continue to live with her!
looks like some one is going to be giving up his shot gun if he cant find one to suit her needs . i think ishawooa is referring to the stoger 2000 but i am not sure if it is available in 20 gage
Have your Auto 5 "refinished" or whatever it needs to spruce it up "like new" by a gunsmith, or whoever, and give it to her. Heck, you can always sneak it out of the gun safe once in a while! Then, go buy yourself a new autoloader! JOHN ANDERSON 's got the right idea!
BTW, I just "gave" my Stevens 311 20 ga. double to my wife. She wanted something to keep in the downstairs closet near the front door. It's loaded with #3 buckshot.....
MERELY,SUGGESTIONS KIND SIRS.BUT AS YOU SAID,IF MOMMA AINT HAPPY,AINT NOBODY HAPPY.AND IVE FOUND THE BETTER MY WIFES GEAR,WELL IT JUST COMES FULL CIRCLE. AND AS ALWAYS MR COOPER, LMAO!!!!
Them is good answers. I don't imagine that I know how to keep the peace with a squaw, I am divorced. What happens in your tipi may not pass in the tipis of others, and vice versa, but you may be smart to give her what she wants, even if it's yore A-5. Just don't replace it with something better!

Good and cheap probably do not belong in the same sentence...

Get her a Benelli because she's worth it and it's the best semi-auto there is.
Del gave the best advice here! Liberty also is an Experienced and clever guy too. ;)
