ive taken 2 cow moose with my .270 shooting 140grain remington premier A frame bullets, but honestly I would highly suggest a rifle of at least .30 cal for moose.i was lucky and both were shot at very close range(under 50yards), and both went down very quickly.shot placement is so crucial on moose,i believe more so than most other big game animals.you really want to try your absolute best effort to double lung em.
I would go with one of the loads from hornady like their xp3 ammo it would be one of the best bullet combo for moose. They run like $41.99 FOR 150 GR. in cabelas or the winchester E-tip ammo it goes for $40.99 BUT ONLY COME IN 130GR.
The Winchester Super X is the one bullet I've tried thjat I can't get good groups with. I've tried Federal Fusion and Remington Core Lokt and got 1" groups at 100 yards and the Super X were about 2".
For moose, using a .270 win., use a heavier for caliber bullet that shoots best in your rifle. 150gr.+ . If you used an extra premium bullet like a Barnes TSX or A-frame, you could go down to 140grs. Double Tap loads some hot ammo. They load a 160gr. Nosler Partition, that I think would be a fine moose round, provided your barrel soots them accurately. The long 160gr. .277 cal. bullet has a high sectional density (.298), so the penetration should be great! The load also has a muzzle velocity of 2850. Although not as "fast" as a 130gr.starting off, the high ballistic coefficient of .434 with the 160 gr. will match the trajectory of a regular 130 gr. load starting about 200 yds, and prbably exceed it way out there not to mention it has 1950 ft/lbs. energy at 300 yds! That is a .270 THUMPER! Moose aren't particularly hard to kill, they are just big. and penetration is the key. Good luck on your search for the right bullet....and don't have too much fun!!

Lots of moose have been shot with the 150 gr Remington core-lokt bullets. Pretty inexpensive and highly effective.

Ok Hornaday does not make XP3 ammo, your 270 will be fine with a 140 Trophy Bonded or a 150 Nosler Partion just make sure you place the shot right.
150 grain Winchester Super X is a great load.
