Easy, Winchester Modle 94 Trapper open sites. Winchester 150 grain hollow points boadsided at about 30 yards. Hit it in the hind qaurter and made a mess out of the whole thing, but when the dogs are barking and things are moving fast its easy for a 13 year old to get excited. Still gets me excited today!
I remember it like it was yesterday...
I was 12 yrs old and had spooked a herd of does out of a willow thicket...I waited, hoping for a buck to emerge and give me a shot...After a bit, he did, and I took him with one shot from my Remington mod 7400 .243, a rifle that my grandpa left me...

It had a Weaver V3-5 and I rue the day I sold that rifle, but still own and occasionaly use the scope as a back up for my 308. The Model 70 weighed about 9 lbs so the felt recoil was so slight, helped a youngster stay with the shot and follow through better. That was about 48 years ago.
Pleasent memory-W/gramp's as coach shot a nice 5pt. with an H&R 20gauge topper shotgun. We had honed the aim point well w/slugs and distance was almost 40yds.Nailed um w/agood lung shot and didn't have to walk far to chk him afterward's. sure miss the old guy and his hunting prowess was amazing!! especuially w hogs in the foreverglades.

Still gets me excited today!
could we ever forget our first buck?
I remember it like it was yesterday...
I was 12 yrs old and had spooked a herd of does out of a willow thicket...I waited, hoping for a buck to emerge and give me a shot...After a bit, he did, and I took him with one shot from my Remington mod 7400 .243, a rifle that my grandpa left me...
Stainless steel Ruger M77 sportster in a 7mm Mag.
A single shot Ithica break action 20 gauge, a great gun for a 12 year old kid.
.270 Ruger Mark 7... hit him right about the shoulder and gave us one hell of a search. Looked for him for about 3 hours and finally came upon him 3 miles away from where i shot him. The bullet penetrated one lung and man did he get far on that.

Remington 788, .243. It was a great tack driver. Unfortunately, it was stolen (along with a .22LR and my bow) when I was moving back in '87. I replaced it with a Remington 700 in .270. Again, another tack driver. (But I still miss that 788!)
I used my .243 bolt action, leupold sights with 100 grain bullets to take my first whitetail and mule deer.

Dropped a 11 pointer @about 100 yrds. with open sights 40 years ago.Still have it but 10 years ago had a friend gunsmith re-barrel then a full customize job.He wanted it to have a new mark 5 action but I opted to keep old for old time sake. has compensater to reduce recoil. His wife done beautiful carving on new stock.Truly one of a kind. will pass on to Son or Grandson.
I got my first deer with a marlin 44 mag lever gun. I still own and love it. It dropped her right on the spot at 30 yards. I would have shot her further out but had problem with scope. I had it dialed to 9 for some reason and couldnt find the deer in the scope (haha). so by the time i figured out what was wrong she was really really close. well it all turned out all right in the end.

.50 Flintlock longrifle. Davy Crockett was my childhood hero, so when I finally started hunting deer at about 22 I decided that I was gonna get my first one with the flinter. After 3 years of going deer-less, I broke down and bought a centerfire for a Christmas present to myself. The next season, I killed an 8-point during muzzleloader season for my first deer. Go figure....

.30-06 from a Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1950, offhand shot through an aperture sight, with a hasty sling, range about 230 yards. Memorable because it was my dad's rifle, and his dad's rifle before that, and my father was with me when I made the shot.
My first deer was a spike, taken with a Savage Model 340V chambered to .225 Winchester that is now retired and living quietly in the back of my gun safe. Hardly the best choice for whitetails but it worked well if used properly.
With my first rifle, a Savage 110 in .243 with an old Weaver scope. Got it new for Christmas from my dad. The deer was a last day, last hour miracle of a muley.
My father's Remington model 700 BDL in .30-06 with Leupold VXII 3-9X40. Made a 90 yard offhand shot.
A Marlin 30-30, probably the most common answer to this question where I live. It was a doe 10 yards from the stand on my first juvenile hunt when I was 11. Please post a tally of all the answers. That would be interesting.
First Deer: it was the opening day of a cold, wet, and dreary youth season. i was hunting with my ithica single shot 20 ga. two does walked into my kill zone a whole 20 yards away. i dropped the lead doe with a head and couldnt reload fast enough to get the second.
First Buck: i was using my father's weatherby patritian 12 pump and i was doing a drive with one of my buddies. he shot at the buck and he dropped so i hit the doe. when i shot, the buck popped back up and i dropped him in his spot. there was one 12 ga hole in the deer and my buddy was using a 20 ga.

I still miss that gun!
My father-in-law's Ithaca 20 gauge with Leupold scope in MI.
Another oddball -- my first (and the next sixteen or so after that one) was taken with my Dad's 7.7 Japanese Arisaka. My kids hunt with it now. Great rifle, lots of history. As ammo is next to impossible to locate, we've gotten quite adept at handloading. -Bob
My Grandfather's hand me down 1891 Argentine Mauser in 7.65x53mm. My Grandpa Aquired it back in the 40's or 50's and used it for most of his elk and deer hunting through the years. It is topped by an old Weaver k-4 scope that has been on it for at least 50 years.
i killed my first deer with a marlin 366 30-30 it was my dads at the time and since i killed my first deer with it he gave it to me i nearly broke my leg jumping from my deerstand i was so excited

A Winchester Model 70 made in the mid 50's in 243 that hit whitetails like a truck up to 250 yards.

Spike horn taken with my Model 94 Winchester 30-30. I keep it as my "go to" weapon of choice when it gets late in the season and I need to put some venison on the table. My father gave the gun when I was 12y/o and it will be the gun I have in my hands when I take my last deer many years from now!!
Marlin 30/30, open sights. It was 9am sunny cold 28. PA
I took my first doe with a 6mm. The doe was about 30 yards and scared me death when she came in. I will never forget that feeling!
