man vrs wild gives really good tips but he has a camera crew so not really a survival situation. But survivor mans stuff never works for him and he seems to always be really hungry and tired... which i know is real but he doesn't seem to teach you as much.
surviorman. he is more legit. You dont need to run around in the wild if oyur lost, you need to stay put which is usually what survivorman does. Man vs wild leaves and spends every night in a hotel and has a freakin camera crew who often times spot animals for him and helps him build stuff. He also advisses that you eat everything alive raw, when he has a fire right beside him.
i half agree with bamaoutdoorsman93 he should cook it, but the health department makes him not stay the night, but what if there are no signs that anyone is coming to help you, you cant stay out there forever, either you need to move or eventually die
Les Stroud! He is a one-man show. Sadly, I heard he's not going to do it anymore. Whatever "qualifications" Bear Grill may have, his show is filmed by a crew, and looks and sounds scripted.
I have to say WA Mtnhunter, I get what you're saying. But I think it is helpful to see someone think outside the box in a survival scenario. Not to copy a specific solution, but to encourage ingenuity working with available resources.
I'd go with Survivor Man. Not only does Les survive and give some good tips, but he grinds himself into the ground getting the camera angles. His show may not be as eventful, but that's survival, and the techniques he does show are useful and practical. A lot of survival is doing as little as possible to conserve energy while at the same time keeping your morale and sanity intact.
Bear Grylls shows you crap that NOBODY should EVER do in a survival situation...like "skree running" down a hillside. Just because it looks good on TV, does not mean it's a good survival technique. Anybody who risks breaking an ankle in an already potentially lethal situation is just a blithering idiot.
I have to say I like survivor man the best..but I like man vs wild also..I watch both all the time. I hate that you never know when Discovery is going to put them on. In any case survivor man does it all himself and I think Bear takes unnessasary risks. I know he does it to show that if you had to you may be able to. But I would never do half the things he does if I was lost.
I think Bear shows more, but then again he can show more with 10 guys with him telling him how to do it and how not to do it. Les doesn't show as much, but you know its real not so much as a fake and Les plays the harmonica too which is sweet.
We stopped watching Bear, because frankly I got tired of explaining to my boys why what he was showing was *not* the right thing to do in a survival situation. Someone, *please* tell me why Bear feels the need to jump in every frigid puddle of water that he encounters!
That's a tough call. For raw entertainment value, I choose man vs wild. Bear grylls does some pretty crazy stuff (like jumping out of a landing float plane into a Louisiana swamp). He is always good for a few "I can't believe he just did that!" moments in every show.
On the other hand, Les Stroud is more practical in his survival methods, and you know he is out there alone, which is the most likely scenario for a lost hunter. He always tries one new thing every episode, and he doesn't try to do things that normal people can't do. There was also one episode where he went the whole episode with his dominant hand bandaged up as if he had broken that arm. Plus, he is Canadian, so I have to support the homegrown hero.
LesserSon...It's true that Les has decided to stop filming survivorman. From what I heard, he decided that he was getting a bit old for putting himself in risky situations like the ones he does, and that he has put out enough material that many people will still be able to survive, even if they have only seen one episode. Here's hoping he can find a suitable replacement!
Survivorman. His shows are more realistic and give a better view of surviving in the wild. He dosn't have a camera crew to help him. A lot of the time his stuff dosn't work, but in the wild not everything goes your way.
survivorman is way better because he doesn't take the risks bear grylls does.if bear grylls breaks a leg or gets a disease from eating something raw,he makes it out if it was real he wouldn't.

Why would the health department care where he sleeps at night? I like survivorman lots more because he is not acting, he is really living it.

Man V. Wild Bear is hilarious and awesome
I bet the guy who gave me a minus 1 also is a big fan of WWF 'Wrasslin'! LMAO
