If it's a story, won't any jerky recipe work? Readers aren't going to know the difference between Maine jerky and California jerky...it's all jerky, and everyone seems to have their own recipe that tantilizes their taste buds. Heck, most of the time jerkey recipes aren't even written down...it's just a mish mash marinade composed of whatever condiments and spices are in the refridgerator and cupboards. The meat is then dehydrated and voila! Jerky!

Common ingredients include, but are not limited to:
BBQ sauce
Steak sauce
Worcestershire sauce
Soy sauce
Liquid smoke
Garlic powder
Garlic salt
Onion powder
Salt
Black pepper
Cayanne pepper
Red pepper
Maple syrup
Corn syrup
Italian dressing
Vinegar

Folks, feel free to add to the list if you know some other ingredients.

wow, you covered it. I'll just say if you make it very salty you just dip it. Marinades should be with moderate salt amount.
