Multi-tool(SOG), matches, tarp or space blanket. But with the technology now I suppose a GPS would be one of your greatest grabs.

What the heck are you going to do with a multitool? There are no nuts, bolts, or screws in the wild, there is nothing to file. All you need is a knife.

1. Big knife
2. Small knife
3. Flint

I might replace the small knife with one of many firearms I would consider.

Here in my area of Pennsylvania, I'd need:

A fishing rod
A multi-tool
A flint

I think I'd be okay with that. Could swap out the rod for a gun, but if we are talking light weight due to hiking, we'll go with the rod.

I can only whittle it down to four items...

One knife.
One pot.
One rooster.
One hen.

The hen makes eggs and the hen and rooster together can make more chickens.

Chicken and/or eggs everyday! And a pot to cook them in. ;) :D

*

OK, if I didn't know I'd be in a situation where I'd need ongoing chicken and eggs... A knife, a pot again, and either a lighter, fire piston, or a multitool with a saw blade (depending on if I expect rescue before a Bic lighter could give out.)

and a papoose 22 lr with a sack of ammo.
also had three hot dogs and a candy bar but food is kinda a given- walked over 5 miles to the top of a mountain to my bocat so I could plow out the road to my camp. hell of an ordeal but it all worked out!!

Multi-Tool
Magnesium fire starter.
50 yards of parachute(550) cord.

A standard issue AF parachute would be better, but the average person reading this is not likely to have access to that.

If you have water, fire, shelter, and food (the last two aren't a must need but it would sure help you)then you will make it out alive! Three survival items that will help you get out alive are: Knife,(this helps you with shelter and food)some type of fire making device (fire piston or magnesium stricker),and last but most important is some type of water purifier (my favorite is an ultraviolet water purifier but you could also use water tablets or a filter)
