Bourjaily: Shooting Skeet with a Tank

I love the giant clay target and the huge trap in this clip.

If you were wondering: The clip is part of a beer commercial for Carlton Dry. The tank, although it looks like a French AMX-13, is actually an Austrian SK-105, which has a 105 mm gun.  If you were really shooting tank cannons at monster clays, you would want to load one of these (I know, I have posted this before, but that was before I knew there were giant clay targets):

Mel Brooks did a similar gag – funnier and in much worse taste – in “History of the World, Part I.” Playing  Louis XIV, he calls “pull” and shoots at peasants flung through the air. “It’s good to be the king.”

PRETTY FUNNY Shooting skeet with a tank
Clay your right ,. good for geese,. in the next zip code.

BUT the shotdun round from a tank ??
CHEEEEERSIT,..deliver any one in the way of that.
Unles it Benladden ( sp ?) of course,..
two rounds for him
Glad "Charlie" didnt have that (like in a fieldpiece) dug in on some God for saken hill.
Imagination (mine) probabaly can't quite register what a mess that woud have been.
Anyone know what caliber the shot is ?
Can't inagine the military using steel so maybe heavy shot for people ?,.
Saints preserve us ,.. makes a machine gun look like
musket fire and my skin crawl just watching that.
Bet the sound of that stuff just flying through the air would give you nigtmares for the rest of your life If you managed to live through it .

Yohan, I am not familiar with that peticular tank, but MOST Nato tanks have main guns between 105-120 mm It will probably have at least 3-4 POUNDS of shot. Maybe more I was not a qualified tanker. I will try to find more accurate info and post it.

Well, I got a +1 and no objections so maybe I can guide you to the video without anybody getting rubbed wrong. I Know I said that I will post it--still will if yall want me to. It is just as easy if not easier to go on youtube and type in cahaba river slab and then click on the first(top)result. It is a video of still pictures to the song, "redneck side of me". It just shows people having fun--some are my friends. Don't look for me cause I'm not in there. I only go there every now and then. It's just a cool, well made and organized video made by a 12 year old boy.

The canister round contains approximately 1150 round balls described as "marble sized." The balls are made of tungsten -- well, probably tungsten-iron alloy -- so they are non-toxic. Good news if pterosaurs turn out to be migratory!

Jaaaysus,.. Christ keep us,..

Thank you Moshie & Mr Bourjaily

The other night (dreaming) after watching the effect the tank shotgun round had on targets ,.
I was 19 again ,.fighting up a hill in the S. E. Asian confernce,.
Latitude and logintude lost in the mists of time ,. Hill number (God knows what ) with the map co-ordinates in one hand blured by the blood of my brothers sprayed on my face and flooding both my hands,.. trying to stop the bleeding.

Charlie ( some how ) had that weapon and made hamburger out of our multiple platoones converging on a pass on top,.
I woke up then (thank God) ,. and while I dont drink usually when I wake up at night,.
for one reason or another I had a big scotch ,..as I sat there waiting for my breathing to get back to normal and my hands to quit shaking .

Marry Christmass folks and best to our men and women serving on the ground,..where erver they are.

Yohan
