84-Pound Girl Catches 193-Pound Wels Catfish

When 11-year-old Jessica Wanstall says she caught a fish thiiiiiiiis big, extending her arms away from her body as far as they can go, it still won’t be enough. That's be cause the 4-foot 10-inch angler, who weighs 84 pounds, caught a 9-foot catfish that weighed 193 pounds.
It is a world record for a freshwater fish caught by a person 16 or younger.
From the Daily Mail:
Jessica, from Sittingbourne, Kent, hooked the fish during a trip with her father to the Ebro River in North-East Spain. She said: “I didn’t [realize] just how big it was until I saw the photos afterwards. I look tiny next to it.

good catch. it is a safe bet that she is hooked on fishing which is good for the sport.
Man, I'm totally jealous. I would love to go fishing for some Wels.
wow that thing is huge I want to know how it didn't pull her in.
That's a fishing story that she will be able to tell for years and years.
Would of loved seeing that little girl fight that humungous fish. But good for her!
There was a program on this creature on animal plant, program was called "River Monsters." Supposedly, this fish is a man-eater.

Congrats to the young lady, that is an impressive catch. That is one of my dream trips to go over seas and catch a wels cat.

That's awesome. The only problem is that she probably set the bar a little too high! Oh well, why wait your whole life to catch something like this when you can just go ahead and get it done early.
She's got me beat & I fish in salt water.
