Father & Son Fish Fifty States in Fifty Days
By Tim Romano
Fifty trophy waters in fifty states in fifty days, and guided no less... Trout to Tarpon and everything in between. I don't know about you all, but this trip would have been a dream come true for me at seventeen years old. Check that... Any age. Heck, I'd go tomorrow if my old man offered to take me. Problem is my old man doesn't even fish. No one in my family does. I'm literally the only person in my whole family who wets a line. I've got two moms, two dads, two brothers, and two sisters and not one of them fishes. My question to you is...
...if you could do this trip with anyone, who would it be with and why? A family member, best friend, who?

I would probably go with my dad. He doesn't fish very often, but he does like it. He doesn't know as much about fishing as he would like to so I think that a fifty day trip would be an awesome bonding time and learning experience for us.
I'd fish with my youngest son. At 14 years of age he would still have the free spirit attitude needed to travel 50 states in 50 days.
According to the GPS tracking system. The father and son team above are currently at Mount Rushmore Nat'l Park in the Black Hills.
I think I'd have to go with a friend. That way I'd know what to expect and let my brothers know for the next time......
First choice would be my father. He is the one who taught me to appreciate the great outdoors and who introduced me to hunting and fishing. Being that he is getting older, if he was unable to make it. Would have to be my buddy who I all ready go on many hunting and fishing excursions with.
It'd be my Dad. I know if he was still here he'd go in a heartbeat.
I'd have to say I'd try to take Dad, but it would be a stretch for him to have the energy to hit all 50 in 50 days. Maybe doing five, ten day trips.....spread it out a bit and facilitate the trips to get the best possible trips out of a particular place that the fishing is hot at a certain time of the year.
BETTER HALF! There is no contest here. Compatibility, moving as one, same passion for the sport and art of fly fishing and that ever important need for adventure and fins.
I'd take my Dad. He's my best friend, and has taught me everything I know in life, and I think that would be an awesome payback and bonding time. I'd love to do something like this.
I would like to go on this trip with my dad and brother. It would be a great experience to have with them.
I would do this trip with my grandpa who has a vast knowledge of the states and I think a knowledge of fish that he's never shared with me. I could also spend time with him that we never really get to do.
That is a tough one for me. I would have to go with my husband first...taught him to fish and now he teaches me, but I could not leave behind my dad and brother who I have spend many many many hours on the river with.
I'd want to take my wife Rebecca. She always has a way of makin' things happen.
This is what I call living and leaving a legacy!
Bon Voyage!
I would do it with my grandfather, because he is the one who got me into fishing in the first place... showed me how to tie knots, line a spool, set the hook, the whole thing. So sharing something like this with him would be the least I could do with the knowledge he has given me.
I will definitely do it with my 10 year old son and my loving wife.....I love spending time with them and family is high priority to me when it come down to it!!!!!!
