Pike & Muskie Fishing photo

I’ve always enjoyed dabbling in homemade tackle, lures especially, but there is a big difference between “making” a lure and “engineering” a lure. Check out the clip below from “Treasure Hunter’s Roadshow.” A woman brings in a muskie lure her engineer father built in the 1950s. It looks to me like the internal mechanism powered the blades, almost as if the lure were self-propelled. I wish there was more explanation of how it worked, but she notes that her father used it to “trap” muskies. In any case, I’d say the design was way ahead of its time.
