Texas Bowhunter Arrows Battling Buck
From The Lufkin Daily News:
"The fight was pretty intense — very violent," [Ben Bartlett] recalled. "Both of the bucks had their heads down and it was just a tangle of horns. I could see their muscles bulging as they pushed and braced for leverage against one another. It was a pretty awesome sight."
Bartlett . . . inched closer each time the battle moved behind a palmetto clump, eventually moving to within 18 yards before he dropped to one knee on the soggy ground and brought his compound bow to a full draw. . . .
“I was a little nervous about taking the shot, because their movements were so erratic. They stopped for a split second when one of the deer coiled to push back and it gave a me a clear shot, so I took it."

Great opportunity, great shot! Must've been exciting not many hunters or anyone else gets a chance like that.
Great story wish I could have seen it!
Let alone having an opportunity to witness something like that, but being able to take advantage is pretty cools story that no one will believe in 20 years.
Awsome experience, exactly what a sportsman lives to see in the wild.......
i've never personally seen two bucks fighting in 30 years of hunting. would love to at least once.
That's a good hunt. Last year I walked up to a small 8 pt who was so intent on rubbing this tree he never noticed I was standing right behind him.
The more I think of it, an 18 yard ground shot pretty much put you almost in the middle of the battle and could have very easily. I'll bet your heart was pounding and racing. You better go and have your heart checked after all that excitement, lol. Must have been fantastic specially with a bow. Congratulations again.
I have always wanted to see that happen in person.
That would be a cool sight even if you didn't have a tag to shoot a deer.
