Discussion Topic: Canada Fisheries Minister Gets Pied Over Seals

By Dave Hurteau

This is awful. Undignafied. Wrong, wrong, wrong! But you have to admit, it is kind of funny.

From the Calgary Herald:

An American animal-rights activist, unhappy with Canada's seal hunt, was arrested Monday after striking Fisheries Minister Gail Shea in the face with a pie moments after she began speaking at an event in Burlington, Ont.

Shea was not injured in the incident, and said she was shocked when she was hit by the cream pie. But Shea said she remains steadfast in her approval of the controversial seal hunt.

"This just strengthens my resolve. . . ," Shea said.

So . . . should supporters looking to strengthen her resolve even further give her a pie in face, too? Hmm. This could get messy. By the way, if you'd prefer to see the pie incident in video form, click here.

Not much different than when protesters ruin someone's fur coat - the owner just gets another.

Give her a pie on a plate, I think. Take the supposed animal rights activist and make him eat nothing but meat pies for ten years.

Leave it to a stupid american to stick there noses where they don't belong. I hope this activist gets assault charges as well as loses their right to get back into Canada. This should infuriate the rest of us. It makes us look bad as Americans. Why do some people feel that they have the right to tell other countries what they should or should not do. Who are we to talk. Look at all the crap our own politicians do. If people would worry about themselves, they would be a lot better off.

Lose his rights to re-enter Canada? They ought to lock him up in Canada and not let him return home to the US. Being locked away in a foreign country is worse.

How in the hell do you sneak a pie into a press conference? You would like an aluminum saucer would stand out.

Canada could ban pies but then only criminals would have pies.

Jail this jackass in a Canadian prison for the appropriate term under Canadian law. Hopefully, there will be additional penalties for assaulting a public official, etc. Lock him in a single cell, and let him live on seal stew. This guy is a complete tool.

Watch the vid, 'this guy" is a gal. Kinda funny, and I don't think Canadians believe anti-wackjobs are a strictly American plague. They've got em' too.

More crap from PETA. This one was kind of funny to watch. I hope they throw the book at her--maybe a book of wild game recipes.

Hopefully there is some sort of jail time, a heafty fine and a written public apology. If a hunter had pulled this same stunt, it would be front page news nationwide and there would be cries about the cruel, vicious type of animals we are.

The leader of the Liberal Party in Canada has stated that if his party wins the next federal election, he will introduce legislation to register pie plates and baking supplies in Canada to reduce the threat of this kind of international embarassment in Canada. This will make Canada a safer place to live...

I can't wait to see the hoops and hurdles we will have to go through in order to buy a new oven for our kitchens!!!

I just read that they are considering terror charges against PETA !!!! Conspiracy to commit a felony for politial purposes. This girl may have to pay a hefty price for a stupid publicity stunt. No matter what, i don't think she will have a passport anymore. With your name on a watchlist it's hard to even get a job but i bet PETA will give a hoot. They are more worried about the animals.

PETA is better remembered as a group of people willing to break the law than what ever it is PETA stands for.
