New Concealed-Carry Permit Numbers Double in South Carolina
From The State:
So far in 2009, the number of South Carolinians wanting to pack heat nearly has doubled over the previous year as people worry about violent crime and feel threatened by partisan politics.
As of mid-October, 28,197 new concealed weapons permits have been issued this year by South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division.
It's an annual record that already has surpassed the 14,630 new permits issued in all of 2008 and by far outstrips all previous years, according to SLED statistics.

This is happening all over the country in every state that has concealed carry permits. And thanks to South Carolina and all the other states that recognize my Florida Concealed Weapon License.
It just goes to show you that it takes some kind of a wakeup call to get folks to do what they should already have done....
If everyone excercised their rights, the government would think twice before attempting to subvert them.
Glad to see folks are finally getting their heads out and into the daylight.
well said mtn hunter. i just wish people would have woken up during the election. but isn't it nice to see so many law abiding citizens arming themselves. as far as the liberals go... here's your change.
Good for the citizens of South Carolina, bad for the criminals.....

Question and I'll bet this will go over everyone's head except a few.
What Government entity is responsible for your personnel protection?
Now for those of you are having a case of the stupids moment the answer is, there is no Government entity responsible for you own personnel protection!
A Bank Manger and Employees know, Store Employees know, several Law Enforcement know and my Friends even at work know I carry concealed and welcome it!
A concealed weapon at hand is better than all the Nations cops on the phone!!
The Cops are 40 seconds out and it will be all over except the body count in 3 seconds!
Its interesting you don't hear about the stabbings that go on and happen at a much higher rate, it's all about saling the News Paper!
Finally, some good news printed about my home state. No mention of "lies" or "pretty women from Argentina".
Dum Spiro Spero - While I Breathe, I Hope
I have a concealed weapons permit. I have over 25 years of law enforcement. I believe everybody should have the right to apply for, and receive a concealed weapons permit. I also believe that the applicant must demonstrate proficiency with the weapon.
Kansas took 9 weeks to get mine to me, that is a good indicator of how many are getting them here. I will send a copy of it and my Birth Cert. to FL for one more!
I turned 21 in September and bought a Glock .40, I am getting my CCL this month too.
