Fly Fishing

Which Rod!??!

Uploaded on April 20, 2009

Hey everyone, Im new to flyfishing and just pulled out my Martin tuffy rod/reel combo I had gotten as a gift years ago. Last week, I accidently dropped my one of the section and cant find it. Im planning on fishing for mostly bass and panfish around the detroit area for the summer and trout up in the U.P during fall-spring. I need a new rod, but there are so many choices out there I have no idea. Id like to keep it cheap as in under $75, but if theres one out there thats just amazing for the money, than Ill look into it. Anyone got a link or model?

Just sarting, go cheap. Bass Pro shops has a Pflueger starter kit for $49.99. It's a 5/6 weight and would be perfect for warm water fishing. And when you get hooked on this fine sport of fly rodding you can upgrade.

Bass Pro is an excellent choice. I also like the selection at Cabelas. They have some nice setups for $75. My first fly rod came for $20 from ebay. It was graphite, heavy and had a foam handle. It wasn't nice, but it did the trick, and now I have 5 rods in all different weights and sizes.

I might say bumo it up to 100 if you can swing that and look at redington, temple fork and st croix, they probably offer the best entry level rods.
www.flyshopcloseouts.com/ Try that place, they often have incredible deals, and the customer service is real hard to beat.

I have a TFO 3wt 2 Piece. The combo with line and reel was $150. What really seals the deal is the Lifetime warranty. To me that is worth the extra money.
