Trout Fishing
i have been fishing for about a month on this local stream in sw pa i havent had mush luck although i did bag a nice 17 incher on a copper john i still despite that havent had much luck any advice.
i prefer to fish underwater and stay away from dry flies i like buggers and stimulators sucker spawn you no th norm any advice?
i've been fishing for 7-8 years, and i have had the most luck nymph fishing too, i usually stay away from all the rubber legs and flashy stuff, and i do find, i go more natural. for the past few years my most successful flies under any circumstances, whether the water is murky or clear i do great with natural color nymphs like pheasant tails and hairs ears. yesterday night my cousin went out for 4 hours and he called me after the fishing trip out and thanked me for the pheasant tail i gave him, why , because he caught almost all his fish off that fly. i carry all sizes of these two flies. there's nothing to a trouts eye like a natural looking nymph. i hope it works for you, sure kept me fly fishing for the past 7 years.
no i've been fishing for sorry fly fishing for over 6 years i mean ive been fishing that stream for 1 month sorry for the misunderstanding
Have you tried dropping a small midge pattern about 10-15" below a copper john, ptn or similar. When I hit that problem the dropper (small midge sz 20-24 usually is what they hit an. I prefer nymphing also seem to catch most of my fish when nymphing.
hey guys i think the problem is over fishing
SW Pa? stick with it, you're figure them out. Beind a SW Pa'er myself, i found that if I go smaller with the nymph size and vary the depths I change my luck.

I almost always run a dropper fly...9 times out of 10 that is what they take. I will go with a 22-24 midge dropped off 20 inches on 6x. They might give your larger nymph a look first as an attractor then nail the little guy that is in tow.
