Take 2 or 3 of your favorite boneless steaks (I like beef Kansas City Strips but any tender steak will work) and place them in a large high quality ziplock bag. Not the kind with a slide those are not airtight and will leak.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, blackpepper and half a cup of Kikkoman soy sauce. There is salt in the soy sauce so don't add salt. Squeeze the air out and zip shut. Massage the bag to mix all the ingredients and cover all the surfaces of the steaks then place in your cooler.
Once in the woods put a caste iron skillet on the fire or campstove. add 2 Tblspoons oil and once the pan is hot add a sliced onion and Saute. Remove the onions and toss in the steaks (pan must be HOT to get the right effect) Sear on both sides and take up when both sides look a little burnt but the center is still pink. Serve with the potatoes you pan fried on the other burner and hot coffee.
Did this more than once in AK and always got rave reviews.
