Bolt-Action

Uploaded on February 02, 2010

What is the most quality, all around best bolt - action hunting rifle you've used (in any caliber)? Also, what was the best ammo for it and what did you hunt with it?

It would be a difficult choice between a Sako Finnbear in .30-'06 or an FN (Fabrique Nationale) Mauser Supreme in .270 Win. I handloaded for both, so I can't recommend factory ammo. If memory serves, the Sako .30-06 seemed to show a preference for 165 grain Sierra BT bullets, and the FN Mauser digested a steady diet of 130 bullets. It's been more than 20 years since I owned these rifles; they were sold when my daughter was born, but they were superbly made rifles and I was very pleased with them.

Had your priorities straight huh EJP? Sad to let the good ones go though. Consider your self lucky for the time you had with them. I've got a safe full of beaters and a wish list that'll likely remain as such.
