Has anyone shot the steven model 200 and if so how accurate is it?

I have one in 223. with it's favorite handload, the first three rounds overlap, and the next two walk the group out to about 1/2 inch. That's barrel heat at work and is to be expected for a sporter barrel like that. I changed the barrel to a Midway 250 savage last year, just for grins. It shoots as good as the original 223 did. I should also mention that I dropped a Rifle Basix hunter type trigger into it.
I'm trying to find the right deal on another Stevens 200 so I can make a 308. I haven't had a 308 in my safe for 2 years now and the world hasn't been right since!
I've shot one in .270 and they are good guns. The basically are the old Savage 110E with a synthetic stock. It sounds like snake river marksman made is even more like a savage with a better trigger and a better barrel. For a little more you can get a savage with an accutrigger but mine without works just fine.
I have one in .243. It will stand tow to tow with all the rifles in my safe in accuracy. As for beauty thats anther story. Buy one.
I'll take funtion over fashion. Hoping to buy one soon as a starter deer rifle for my boy
I have one in 308 as my back up rifle for western fly in hunts. Shoots great, loooks tacky, but who cares, certainly not me or the game I hunt.
If you want a cheap, yet very accurate gun that already has a great trigger, check out the Marlin XL7 or XS7 for about 300 bucks.
A friend just purchased one in 30/06 for under $300 bucks. Shoots pretty good with factory ammo, and he kept the brass for some handloading. Not a fancy looking gun, but it will get the job done!
I have one in 223, shoots in an inch at 100 yards on cheap stuff.
traded in a 270 for it and havent looked back. Killed 2 deer so far.
i have one in a 25-06 shoots great at 300 yards no problems looks could be better but for $318. dollars i will never complain i plain to buy another one in a 300 win mag this year
but had to ajust the trigger a bit it is ajustable some what but not much more than 1/2 pound

the .308 loves a 165gr bullet at least my 200 stevens does,a great rifle.
I keep thinking about a Stevens 200 in .223 rem or .22-250 with a Nikon or Sightron 3-9x to keep out of the safe or in the truck for coyotes and other deserving vermin. My AR is a bit too valuable to leave out and about. I would not feel too bad about leaving a $300 rifle out in the dry shed. Sometimes a target presents itself when you are outside away from the house.
I have one in 30:06. Contrary to much published advice, I did not put a pricey scope on it, but an inexpensive Simmons model. It drives tacks at 100 yds using Remington 165gr core lokt ammo. It is now available in a camo stock according to Savage's web site. Absolutely the top rifle to get if you're on a budget, and who isn't nowadays? Go for it...
I have a cheap savage without the accutrigger so it probably the same thing as the Stevens 200. My rifle shoots awesome. I can squeeze sub moa out of .270win 150 gr Winchester power-points. Someday I want to get a Stevens in .223 and turn in into a nice long range varmint gun. You can make a really nice custom gun for under $800 if you do a lot of the work yourself.
My son and son-in-law both have one in 223 and they are great shooters. A lot of gun for the money.
I have a Steven Model 200 in 243, the accuracy depends on the type of scope and the rifleman's ability, mine shoots very good, but the scope I have on it is not top of the line...with it I have pretty close grouping, depending on my breathing...I would like to get one in .223, I'm just waiting on a sale...
