Deer Hunting
Hello everybody. I recently found this website and I absolutely love it. I love looking around the message boards. There is usually something interesting to find wherever you look. One thing that caught my attention was this forum. It's for ladies but there aren't very many topics listed to talk about. So I thought I would pose the question why. Why is there nothing for women to talk about? I have my opinion on almost everything and I'm sure any other woman would say the same so why is the ladies forum so bare?
Share your opinions and start the ball rolling!
I think most of the "ladys" are out hunting as we "speak". Nice to have you here though ! Welcome !
Just a year ago this site was buzzing with activity. We talked about everything from old pictures to posting stories of the hunt. But now, nobody wants to participate in any subject that is brought up and it is so sad. Believe me, I have tried.
There aren't very many sites that women feel comfortable posting comments on and this is one where everyone felt at ease to have an opinion and share a thought.
I have been hunting for the last week and will be honest, this is the first I even peeked in here. I have had an awsome year hunting and have lots of stories to tell. I know there are others out there that would love to share also.
So, welcome aboard and you start and I will follow. Maybe the site can be reserected.
You go first =)
JB
welcome Lady Hunters. Wish more of you would come out and hunt. My wife has hunted with me for over 40 yrs now. Far as I'm concerned a man and woman who hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors will be together forever, so get your husbands, boyfriends or partners out of the easy chair and out in mother natures wonderland and enjoy!!!!!!!
Thanks for all of the comments so far. I have been out hunting for the past week and I didn't see a darn thing. Although while I was sitting in the field some guy rode through my field on a horse. I really was not happy at all about that. I started hunting when I was about 11 and been hunting since. I have noticed that the more I hunt the more I love it. My big brother was the one that got me into hunting and I am glad he did. I have only shot two deer in my eight years of hunting but he was with me both times. It kind of makes it special that way. Thanks again for all the comments. Please keep them coming along with a few stories :)
I don't have any girl friends that hunt but I have the best hunting buddy in the world, my husband. We have traveled quite a bit hunting and have great property at home to hunt also so we spend alot of time hunting together.
He has been with me when I harvested my first bear, we were hunting the same camp when I harvested my P&Y color phase. He went with me on my first elk hunt out west and was standing right next to me when a beautiful bull stood at 38 yards.
We both love to fish and spend lots of time on local lakes in the summer fishing.
I feel bad for women that have never had the "outdoor" experience. My only wish is that I could make a living at doing what I love to do and that is hunt. Dang work gets in the way of my hunting=)
Last day of the season in Michigan so I am off to my blind. Nice to see posts in here again, I have missed everyone that posted before.
Happy Hunting
JB
That's great! I hope my husband will be into the outdoors just as much as me or possibly even more. It seems like you really enjoy being able to be outdoors and being with someone that loves it just as much.
Did you get anything this year? Since I didn't have any luck I was thinking about doing muzzle loader this year. Not sure though since finals are coming up at school and I can't make it home as much as I would like to :( but I will just have to ride it out and see what happens i guess.
Get out there every chance you get. I know it must be tough with classes but you have to MAKE the time. Tomorrow is not a promise, do it today.
Yes, I harvested a nice 8pt with my bow and another 8 with my rifle. Looking forward to muzzle loading, lots of does around.
Good luck with finals and hunting. I look forward to hearing how both went.
JB
Mrs. Black- YOUR BACK ! How's the hunting been ?
I'm up 3 this year ! Still have'nt got a "good" shot at "Godzilla"(BIG 8/10) YET !
Glad to have you back !
I haven't gone far. I post when I can but just can't seem to find anyone that loves the site as much as I did and do.
I have had an awesome year...hogs in Feb, bears in May, an elk in Sept, an 8pt whitetail in Oct with my bow and another 8 pt with my rifle. Life is good. Looking forward to muzzle loading season here in Michigan as it starts this weekend. Bow league does as well so I am pretty geeked.
I continue to write my stories and submit them to every magazine I can. Nobody publishes them but I don't care, at least I got them to read them (I think)=)
Nice to see your name on the site again as you have been pretty quiet too.
Just doing what I love to do and enjoying every minute of it. Hope you are doing the same.
JB
I am back. I am trying to survive finals week and thought I could use a break. What better way to take a break than to spend a few minutes on a hunting site?
Judy, Congrats on what seems like a well spent year of hunting. It sounds like you had a blast and you have the creatures to prove it.
Big O, it seems like you have had a good year as well. Hopefully you get a shot at your monster if not this year than maybe next.
Like I have said I have been couped up in my dorm studying my life away. I really wish I could be home but that won't happen until Friday. I am hoping I will get to go out the remaining two days of muzzle loader but that doesn't look too promising. :(
When I do get home my brother is taking me to Cabela's. I am looking forward to that. It will make things alright even if I can't go hunting.
The opening weekend of muzzle loader I went home but didn't get to go out. But I was packing up my truck and getting ready to leave when I heard a shot from my field and hootin and hollerin. I called my brother to see who got what and he told me that his buddy just shot a massive 8pt. So instead of leaving on time to get back to school, I waited around until they drug him out of the field. It was one of the nicest deer I have ever seen harvested off of our property (the nicest one being my 7pt I took last year.) But I am happy for his buddy all the same because it was a buck of a life time for him.
It's nice to see the comments coming in. I really enjoy reading them. I miss being home and listening to all of the hunting stories.
Muzzle loading season is coming to an end and I haven't even got the muzzle loader barrel on my TC. My dad was admitted to the hospital on Saturday and I have spent the biggest share of my time at the hospital.
At this point I am thankful that I was able to harvest nice bucks with my bow and my rifle and there will be other muzzle seasons. For now my thoughts are somewhere other than in the woods.
But, as the season does come to an end...I wish all of you sucess in the last couple of days. There are still big ones out there so go get em!
JB
Hey everyone! Thought I would come take a look. Miss Whitetail missed out on some great conversations, and I still really miss Kim and our own place. :( However, glad to hear that you are still out there Judy and hunting like crazy. Sorry to hear about your dad, and hope that things will get a little better in the coming days. I didn't get to go elk hunting this year, long story, but huband will never make that mistake again! Went pheasant hunting several times when I could, even took my daughter out on opening day. She was unhappy about walking thru the weeds (they got tall with all the rain) but was a real trooper. She got alot of compliments from the guys and from the wardens, and I hope that she will want to continue. Probably about time to take her to hunter's ed! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas from Wyoming (until I am back again)!
P.S. also got a new rifle, 7 mag left handed, now I gotta get out there and shoot! :)
Jacee...it is great to have you back. I too continue to miss Kim as it just isn't the same.
I do have exciting news and that is that my elk hunt will be aired on the Outdoor Channel starting Monday morning the 28th at 6:30am. Again on Thursday @3pm and Sunday the 3rd @ 11:30 pm. Pretty exciting stuff.
Wishing you and everyone else a wonderful Christmas.
JB
Way to go Judy! I am proud of you! Now, gotta figure out who has the Outdoor Channel in my family....
My Dad got me into this site and I LOVE IT!!! I go onto the site almost EVERY day. In the October 2009 deer season I got my first deer with my Dad at my side and with the help of my trusty 6.8 spc contender it dropped right in its tracks!
Hay to go Hunter Girl 1! Hope that you continue the tradition and take your right hunt as seriously as we do!
Did you ladies see the F&S site where they posted the top pictures for 2009? Well, go to the big game group and check out #2!!! How dang cool is that??
Glad to see the site being used again.
Hey why aren't you on here more? I mean i know ya'll have your on spot on the site but other than the bee we don't have many visitors who post.Everyone has their thoughts and ideas how about sharing some with the boys.Bring it on ladies,I'm the father of three grown girls, they love shootand hunt this will keep them focused and in a competitive mood.Good luck and good hunting
Judy, I am so impressed as always! Way to go! Alabamaoutlaw, we used to have our own blog and got dropped bt F&S editors, so I don't get out as much as I used to. No problems with the guys here overall, just sucked to lose our own site.
Just peeked in to see what is new. Family health issues have kept me running to the hospital but I check in when I can.
Got a new GAMO air rifle and am so excited to get it sighted in and use it to wipe the smirk off the faces of those nasty squirrels in our barn.=)
Sorry to say that I won't have any hog hunting stories to tell this year as we have cancelled our plans of going to Texas. Dad is just too sick and that is just too far.
But, there will be other Februarys and other hog hunts. Bear hunting in the spring though.
JB
Sorry to hear about your dad, Judy Black. I hope he has a swift and complete recovery. Good to hear from you again.
I have just this year started hunting with my son.We went muzzel loading for deer and had a great time. I didn't get my first buck yet or doe for that matter but we had a great time just the same. I loved spending time with him and just getting out doing something we both love. I never really thought about him wanting to take me hunting before, I thought that he wouldn't want to take me you know being his mom and all. I just one day asked him if he would mind taking me and he said hell no mom that would be great I would love to take you. So now we have started a new tradition and can't wait till turkey season this spring. Oh we also go fishing together too we love it.So I guess there goes the old saying you never know till you ask.
Found a new toy and am having a blast with it. I had gotten some money for Christmas and my birthday and I bought myself a GAMO.
We have these nasty squirrels in the barn and I couldn't shoot them with my bow or a 22 for fear of poking a hole in the steel of the barn. Well, I took the chatter box out of two of them so far and I just dare another to move in.
Lots of fun, I just pretend they are the hogs that I should be hunting right now. =)
Anyone else having fun???
JB
My b/f and I both have gamos, hate those squirels, they are always at ou bait pile!
