Deer Hunting
yesterday was the first day of bow season in ohio. It was a pretty crapy day out and the wind was blowing and it was raining. But I thought what the heck and i went out. About an hour into the hunt two young does walked out about fifty yards away. After watching them for an hour a bigger doe came out and I thought to my self if she would get a little closer I was going to shoot her. Her and the little ones went to the end of the field. So I snuck out of my tree stand and put on a little stock. When I made to where I was right in front of them I got on one knee and got my cross bow up and she saw me. She stared at me while the little ones ate. About an half hour later she finally turned broad side. I turned the dile on my bow to 4 because I estimated that she was probably about 45 yards away and I aimed at her spine so the bolt would hit her where I wanted it to. I took off the saftey and eased the trigger and the bolt took off and when I looked up the bolt hit her right were i wanted it to and after about a half hour of tracking I claimed my trophy. I found out after I had found her my bolt went through the sholder and into the heart.
congratulations my season juststarted here in TN as well and cant wait to get out of work early enough to make it into the woods
Good job Deer Hunter. I was out in that mess to but saw more coyote than deer. I think I have some work to do.
congrats i also live in ohio and tomorrow will be my first day
Congrats on your deer.
Deer weren't moving very much in the ADKs this weekend...weather was warm, windy, and wet. Saw 3 deer total. First one was out of my effective range (about 60 yards), and the other 2 I saw on the drive in to my stand this morning. Glad to hear someone had some success. Congrats!
It was a pretty cool hit. When the deer was gutted we looked at the heart and you could see the hole. She was a fat deer too! I'd get some pics posted but I have been having trouble with the photos section lately.
I live in NJ and the season has been open for nearly a month now.
Schoonover, i'm in jersey too but my zone doesn't open until tommorrow. Hoping to get out tom. eve.
Congrats on your deer. Nice Shooting !
I'll be in Ohio soon , so save me a few to chase O.K ?
Big O, me too!
Today was my secound evening with my Bow here in TN. Been some crappy weather so far, that and work have made it hard to even hit the woods. After two afternoons I've still not seen a Deer, in an area that I let 13 bucks pass last year, and lord knows how many doe a day. Lots of tracks and a good rub within sight of my stand, it's just a matter of time! Good Luck Ya'll!
