My son and I warm up the bikes
Daniel (L) on the Honda XCR100, which he has outgrown. Ed (R) on a Yamaha TW200. Both have proven very durable. For trail-riding, I remove the mirrors on the Yamaha and it's my ride for preseason scouting of Oregon logging trails, but I wouldn't recommend a motorcycle for the hunt.

great photo! teh family that rides together stays together!
Riding alone these days...my son enlisted in the Navy. I miss my partner-in-crime!
Nice bikes, I'm a FMX rider, Yamaha 450 (2010! Just got it 3 weeks ago!) love it, great way to bond with your son. With I could get my hands on a street leagle bike, but right now I don't have the $ (And sponsors wouldn't pay.)
Does that ever bring back the good'ol days, WOW!
Holloman AFB NM, Alamogordo. I had a 1980 Honda XL500s and had that that mountain range to ride. One of the most breath taking was the rim trail on the west upper mountain range. All kind of tracks on it including Elk and Bear and kept expecting to run into one but never did.
The two of you would love that area! Riders from as far as Dallas TX come to ride including a group of Pro's I would run into and be invited to tag along to guide them back. Talk about some Bonzi riders, CRAZY turning there bikes horizontal jumping & ramping over tree logs and ditches!
Wish you guys were there B)
Alex,
I hope you thoroughly enjoy that 450. Opportunities to ride were few and far between for my son and I, but I agree...it was a great time for me just to see his enjoyment and share it.
Clay,
I bought my first bike while I was on active duty and it left a lastingly good aftertaste. I enjoyed it enough (and had sufficient confidence in my son's agility and balance) to accommodate his wish for a bike. Other riders laugh because I use training wheels on my machine; I ride MUCH more conservatively than I did years ago.
We live in Wyoming & when it hit 45+ degrees this last weekend, my husband & I got out our Harleys!!! YAY! Who needs warm weather when you have thermal clothing :)
That's GREAT! My wife really isn't interested in riding, but I toy with the idea of getting a Ural with a sidecar. I think she'd enjoy that.
