Idk bout the rod/reel, but braid is usually used for big cats and THICK weeds. Use deep crank baits and scum frogs or buzzbaits.

I would go without the heavy braided line! Go with a 10-12 lb florocarbon, or a 10 lb braid. Its all you realy need. I have brought in a few 7 lb bass on 6lb test. I string up my rods with 6lb mono or floro, and 10lb spiderwire. I like the okuma reels. I have a baitfeeder setup allows the bail to freespool while keepin bail shut. Its on a 6 1/2 ugly stick lite. I like to use rattle traps, senko style worms, jigs, crankbaits.

The only reason I ask is so I can have a good pole for when there is a lot of vegetation, and i need to pull bass out of it. I would probably use this setup with topwater frogs a lot.
