What kind of Bass? For smallmouths in rivers I get good results with a crawfish pattern. For most bass in lakes I do better with a shad pattern in various colors, depending on time of day, water clarity/color and depth.

Purple passion walleye runner from cabelas. 3 1/2 inch size runs at 20 feet. Cast or troll off the points. Its metallic purple darker on the back with a red belly. Caught some huge ones with it!

I would base my color off of what kind of water clarity are you dealing with. If your dealing with clean water in the fall the sexy shad color is real hard to beat. If you are dealing with dirty water go with a firetiger, tomato craw, or black back and chartreuse belly.

I have caught an 18 incher on the baby bass color. Since Fall bass (largemouth in particular)are alot more flighty, a more natural or a not so flashy color pattern would keep from scaring any old/smart bass. It's best to experiment to find what patterns work best in you're selected pond.

I like to go with red or orange. Bass can see these colors easier.
