I agree with Jake. Most times pike aren't too fussy. They'll attack about anything that moves. Including sometimes the toes on feet hanging over the dock. Bucktail is a lot easier and cheaper to obtain. However, in water the action produced by maribou is pretty amazing. Especially the jointed flies (but boy are they difficult to cast - like throwing a balloon when they're dry and like a sack of mud when they're wet)
when they are realy biting it doesn't matter but if they are slow go with the maribou to temp the finicky fish. on the other hand bucktail is far more durable

Bucktail easily! caught a ton up in canada when i went.
bucktail is definitly a tougher, longer lasting material, but during a cold front or on heavily pressured fish I prefer marabou.

In northern Wisconsin, all we fish is bucktails. I've tried using marabou for muskies, but I still haven't had any luck
