Q:
i'm going fishing down on popham beach, maine next week to catch some stripers. I was wondering if it was okay to use a 7.5 foot rod. Also what should I use for bait.

That length rod should work if your using a baitcaster. A lot of Largemouth Bass baits will work-topwater lures, plugs, swimbaits.
Obviously you'll need a different rig if you are fly fishing, including a longer rod.

We use a little shorter rod's(6') here in Ark. for stripers. We use live bream/sunfish for bait.
I'd suggest "live bait" for the area.
Good luck and good fishing.

I use 6.5 and 7 foot medium action rods for stripers. Use whatever live bait is prevalent, or use chunked bunker or clams. Good luck.
