Q:
On Alaskan Halibut fishing. I'm thinking of booking a trip up there. Does anyone have any suggestions on where, time of year and cost?

If you want Halibut I would suggest Glaciers Edge charters out of Seward. NOt only are they good at getting you on Halibut this guy can put you into Salmon and Ling Cod (best eating fish you never heard of). I have personally been out on the Melinda Rose and had a blast. Click my name and at my profile page click on the photos and go to page 6 that was a day of silver salmon fishing on the Melinda Rose. This guy is so good other boats followed us around looking for fish. We released many fish. Nobody out there caught them like we did. I would suggest you stay at Box canyon cabins they are really nice and the price is good by AK standards. Want to save money? If you have a military ID card you can stay at the Seward Military recreation area but book very early. For Halibut only Homer is very good but when I did a search for Cpt Mike's Charters nothing came up. The Halibut pics in my file came from his boat the Beausileaux. Beware not all charter operators are good. Some will take you out and bring you back as soon as you pull in a couple small Halibut. The best go far out into the gulf and release small fish until each person has a couple nice keepers(see photos) The daily limit is 2 Halibut so you want them to weight at least 30 lb or more. If you have more questions feel free to ask I lived there for 3.5 years

I just came back from a fishing trip 3 days ago. This time of year until the end of August is excellent. I would definitely recommend Southeast Alaska, specifically Glacier Bay.
