I do it all the time and catch a lot of fish doing it. I even have a special set-up for fishing flies in small streams that requires braided line to work properly.

if you want to use flys with braided line you should get some of those bubble bobers that you can fill with water

Stocked rainbows sometimes aren't the brightest lightbulb in the box but most wild trout I catch are very wary of the braided line especially in small streams. I love 6 lb test mono, if they are pretty small I'd use 4 lb.

If your talking about small mountain streams I live on one i can cast my line from one of my window and fish. I use the about 4 pound test breaded vanish I think that’s what it is I’m still using the same stuff from last year. It works good but I also seem to catch more native on monofilament Rather then breaded.

Well I fish for stocked trout in a pond and the briaded line works better than mono, mostly because of the light reflecting(This efect is mostly on the sunny days, but there is still somme efect even on overcast days). Plus if there is alot of vegatation then you will keep alot more flies or hooks with braid rather than mono.

No for small river fishin I use an ultra light 5 foot rod with 6 lb flourocarbon on it. I use braid on my trollin setup. Still have a 3 foot floro leader though

I wouldnt. Matter O' fact I just use a $20 ultra-light combo from wal-mart and I've brought in 6 pound drums up stream with that stock 4 pound line. Truthfully you can catch any sized fish on almost any pound line, it has more to do with drag and line capacity. Ex. I've caught 100+ pound sharks on 20 pound line.
