Considering he was talking to a complete idiot, he responded appropriately I probably would have said much worse. WHen I came back from Viet Nam in 67, some long haired maggot infested hippy spit on me and said the same thing, I knocked him down the steps of the Post Office in Colorado Springs in front of the Chief Of Police (I was in uniform and he heard the exchange of words). He just laughed gave me a thumbs up and hauled him off.

As prior military myself I've dealt with people like that. There are so many things that you want to say back to them but he made a quick answer that worked great.
Its sad that folks like her dont understand that the reason she can walk down the street and have the freedoms that she has is because of people like him and the rest of our service men and women.

It is sad ...for the soldier and for the woman who doesn't have a clue how precious and valuable our soldiers are!
I don't believe I've heard very much negative press as I did during the Viet Nam war though.

I detest the ignorance that this woman displayed! She forced our young soldier to say some thing quickly, without thinking. Maybe he's lose a comrade in battle, Maybe he's lost his job for even going, maybe his wife has left him while he's away, maybe he's never seen his new son. God as my judge-I truly detest the miserable creature that could speak to our brave soldiers in this manner. She should be falling on her knees that she has the right to speak at all!

My uncle who was a Vietnam Vet just recently past away, he was a hero to me. He told me stories from the war and some of the things he had witnessed. We as Americans owe such a debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served and given their lives for his country. I can not tell you the pride I feel for our country and the goosebumps I get when I walk up to a soldier and thank him for his service. When I think of people out there that have no idea what these men have gone through and seen just so that their children and grandchildren can grow up in the same freedom loving country that they were born into. I can not describe to you the deep resentment and anger that boils up within me. It is always the few good people that will have to fight for the many week and ungrateful to preserve what is unobtainable accept through the shedding of blood and the loss of life. There is no greater gift than one man give up his life for another. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who have served and died for my freedom.

I thought America had experienced a little enlightenment in 40+ years, but I also encountered that when I returned from Viet Nam. Some well-nourished creature pointed at my ribbons and remarked, "I bet they gave you those for killing helpless women and children?" I shrugged, "Only the ugly ones, and I'm one short of my quota, Heavyweight." A male Caucasian spit at me, missed my trousers but hit my spit-shined shoes. He thought that was funny, so I wiped my shoe by kicking him in the crotch. His girlfriend, for whom I presume he intended to show off, tried to comfort the lad while he was writhing in the street, and she shouted, "You pig, you Nazi! You hurt him!" The lad's hands were firmly glued to his testicles in an attempt to keep them from disintegrating; I suggested she kiss it and make it well. That was years ago, and I had something of an "attitude problem" then, but I've mellowed considerably with age and I'm much more tolerant now.

Gentlemen, I should clarify...before I returned to the World, I'd been warned that America was sharply divided in its support of the war in Southeast Asia, and those who protested it often expressed their opinions in counterproductive ways. Admittedly, my hammer was cocked before I returned. I had no patience, no willingness to dialogue, no toleration of confrontational personalities. I was still sorting society out for enemies, and some defined their position and their animosity very clearly. I should have handled some of those situations with greater maturity and rationality, but that took much longer to develop.

When the long haired hippie commie pinko fags asked us how many we killed, the typical response was: "Depends on if you count pregnant women as 1 or 2". That usually shut them up.

I'd a told here to quit being such a hippocritical little B IT CH and went and had a cold beer with all the men and women that would appreciate my service.

Been over twice and never had anything but hugs and hand shakes when I came back.
