Q:
i recently heard a rumor that if the U.S.A. bans guns texas will secede from the union. is this true, has anyone else heard this. also what do you think of this decision. i personaly, having grown up with the stars and stripes, and the stars and bars up our flagpole hope that they dont because that would be a terrible loss for america, but i would side with Texas which would be a strange predicament for me being enlisted and all. i guess i can now appreciate the situation folks were in back during the civil war

Secession was not a good idea in 1860 and its not going to solve matters today. By the way most of my ancestors fought for the south, some died.

Hey tighty why do you like to stir things up and start arguments, this isn't a place to fight? This is a place to enjoy and talk about the outdoors.

dont get me wrong i ask plenty of relevent questions. but it is interesting to see others views. i am merely asking a question whether, or not it is a fight depends on how it is answered. and even relevant posts start arguments. i want to hear everyones views mostly, but like i said the arguments are fun to listen to.

If you don't know who Pelosi is you need to get informed about American politics. Join the NRA they will help you out on that score.

First, I doubt this will ever happen. Second, you swore an oath? I assume you are referring to the military oath that states you will defend the constitution. That means that if anything is done to infringe upon our rights to keep and bear arms you swore an oath to fight that action. Even if the President gives the order! He swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitution too! Many have said that the Bill of Rights does not mean that states can't create and enforce gun laws. The Constitution is the law of this land and if something in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights says cannot be infringed upon that means it CAN NOT BE INFRINGED UPON! Not that some pencil necked billionaire governor can make up rules that do infringe upon that right in his state. IT CAN NOT BE INFRINGED UPON ANYWHERE ON US SOIL!!!! But maybe I'm missing something.

Don't worry about them taking your guns, if you have no primers or ammo all you have left is a club that is difficult to use. Forget this secession idea and work to make the good old USA back into the great country it used to be, it can be done.

I agree with etexan. Northern California has been talking about breaking the state into halves forever. It's just talk. Same with the gun bans.
If the govt. did try to take your arms would you still feel obligated via your oath?
I took the same oath, but it included defending my country from aggressors both foreign and domestic.
Anyone trying to infringe everyones 2nd Amendment rights is an agressor against the Bill of Rights, Constitution and our country.

Secession from our grand union is not only ludicrous, but would be a danger in itself. Much easier for another power to takeover or attack a weaker subdivision. Defending our country against all enemies, foreign and domestic, is of utmost importance. Anything less borders on treason. Go ahead and inform your superiors of your support for secession. I dare you!

According to Resistnet.com more and more states are finding that their Constitutional Rights are being challenged by the Obama administration and are taking steps to counteract it.

Already, 9 states: Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan,
Missouri, Oklahoma, California, and Georgia have all introduced bills and resolutions declaring sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment. 12 others: Colorado, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Illinois are considering such measures. Of course, the citizens of each state would have to ratify the bill, just as they would have to vote to join the Union.

At last count 35 States were considering this.

Food for thought if nothing else.
