THE MARLIN 7 4x4, I BELIEVE IT COME IN 12 CALIBERS AND IS AROUND $350.00. THE 30-06 WOULD BE MY CHOICE FOR CALIBER. GOOD HUNTING

Tikka T3. I have a 270 and I would not hesitate to shoot a moose with it. If you want more oomph a 300 win mag which may not be a bad idea if you are wanting to regularly hunt for bear.

Ruger makes some great bolt-action rifles that are very nicely priced. I'd go .30-06. I'm up at Dartmouth now and just came across a big black bear on a hike two days ago- I can say I would not be keen on shooting him with something as small as a .270

Savage,Marlin,Tikka, Weatherby Vangard,Remmington 700, 30/06 is about the best all purpose caliber for any animal in the USA, it your afet some thing very large or dangerous with Fangs,Tusks or claws which is likely to kill you, the largest you can handle would be prudent.

30/06 - I like other calibers too, but the 06 will get the job done on what you've described .

Winchester 92-
Having shot everything from prairie dogs to elk with a .30-'06, it would be my choice of caliber for the game you are going to hunt. As to rifle selection, Savage is probably the most rifle for the least money,
but any for the brands listed above are good, quality rifles.
Just a note, I would develop a good, accurate 200 or 220 gr. load for the '06 when hunting moose or bear. Sometimes bigger ain't better, but when you are dealing with animals that can eat you, or stomp a mud-hole in your a$$, bigger is definitely better.
Good luck,
crm
