Nope, worked for me the other day. I love that call.
October is great time to grunt call, just dont over use it. I call 1,2 or 3 soft to med grunts every 30 mins when calling. I sometimes grunt loudly if all else fails and have called in nice bucks by calling loudly, I only loud grunt my last hour or two on stand.
I say you should use it. I have a couple of those and they helped bring a nice buck in last friday. of course I didnt have a shot, but the call worked.

I've killed two 10 pointers using that call. Both were in October. I am using mine when I go out.
Grunt calls are very good. I believe that late October is a good start for Grunt calls. This is when the bucks are starting to spar and getting ready for the rut.Depending in what part of North America you are in the rut should be about Nov 13th and 14th. About 2 weeks before this time would be the best time for your grunt calls.
