I use to have a camo sock that you slid over your gun to camouflage it. They also make paints and tape that is easily removed without causing damage.

I can guarantee that a shiny gun wil spook a gobbler. There are some products out there that the manufacturere claim will camo your gun and can be removed without harming the finish. There was one called "Skinz" and there are others. One shrink wraps on your gun with heat from a hair dryer. If you do a little research you'll find what you need. Good hunting.

# Stretches and conforms to any object
# Self-cling design
# Quick and easy to remove
# No residue left behind

Protect and conceal your gun, binoculars and other valuable hunting equipment with this self-cling camouflage wrap. It stretches to conform to any object and only adheres to itself. Easy to apply, just keep the wrap taught while overlapping during the wrapping process. Plus, unlike other gun tapes, it is quick and easy to remove and can be reused as well. And it doesn't leave any residue behind to mar your gun's finish. Adhesion is not affected by rain. The thick fabric wrap protects expensive guns and equipment from the scratches that can occur with everyday use. The tape also enhances the grip in all situations and keeps the gun or your hands from slipping. Additonally, it insulates your hands from hot or cold gun surfaces when hunting in those extreme conditions. Firearm not included.
Dimensions: 2" wide x 12-ft. long roll.
Camo patterns: Mossy Oak® New Break-Up™, Mossy Oak® Shadow Grass®, Mossy Oak® Obsession®, Mossy Oak® Brush®, Snow, Army Digital Woodland.

Cody,

I've used one of the Beartooth kits that Moishe is describing above and it helps a good bit. It won't hurt or alter the gun, although it leaves some gaps here and there. Maybe that kit + some of the tape in certain places would be a good answer.

Good luck,
S Ga

bow paint works well and comes off with a little effort. If you don't do something about it, you may as well take a brass band with you, the result will be the same.

I watched a turkey strut up to a guy hunting with a blued shotgun like yours except this one had a bright flourescent front bead and that stupid jake started pecking at the bead sight on the gun. I have a blued 870 Wingmaster too and if I was worried about getting busted by a tom, I'd try a gun sock with the end cut off before I'd change the finish of a handsome gun.

I used a shiny blued gun last season and didn't get busted. Lots of shiny stuff after the rain falls or when it ices up. I think movement makes a bigger difference, but a dull or camo gun just makes one blend in that much more.

Yes. "Prey" animals tend to shy away from anomalies. In other words, if there is something in the scene that does not occur in nature, they will be gone.
