i'd say get a 870 remington or a model 500 mossberg in what ever gauge you prefer.depending on age and size of the shooter.I hope this helps you and good luck inthe field.
It depends on what you are hunting. If you are hunting upland game (birds, rabbits, etc) then a fast handling shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge would be practical. Such a gun would have a barrel 26 inches or shorter in a pump or semi auto. In and O/U or SXS 26 to 28 are about perfect in my book.
For squirrels it would be hard to beat a good bolt action .22 LR. Such guns are available from Ruger, CZ USA and Remington.
Depends were you like! LOL!!!
In Alaska, Black Bear is considered as Small Game back in 86-90!!
Mossberg shotgun in either 12 or 20 ga.
Shotgun's you're most versatile option, but as Beekeeper mentioned, it's tough to beat the reward of a nice, precise shot with a .22 for squirrel.
Like Coop said, what do you consider small game?
Squirrels, rabbits, frogs, .22 LR.
UPLAND GAME, ie, quail, pheasant, grouse, etc., a fast handling shotgun in the gauge, and type that works for you.
A 20 gauge shotgun is the best small game gun, number 6 shot will be a good all around load.
Listen to beekeeper
Depends if your looking for a shotgun or rifle. For a shotgun I'd go with a benilli nove or 870 in a 20 gauge, and for a rifle I'd get a ruger 10/22.
22 or 20gauge
That depends on where you live. When I was a kid I hunted with a .22 but I grew up in the middle of nowhere. If you live in a populous area popping a squirrel off a tree limb with a .22 could be pretty dangerous while a .410 or 20 ga would get the job done without endangering the neighbors.
22 rifle's or 870 20 guage in my opinion
20 gauge shot gun or a .22 rifle
Shotguns = 20 ga
Air rifle = 600fps +
It depends where you living. If you are hunting in an urban area, then you may want to have a pellet gun (Gamos do the trick for squirrels, Rabbits etc.) But if you are going to hunt in a more rural land, then a sugjest the Remington 870 in any gauge you want, 12 or 20
I use either a ruger 10/22 or a 12 guage
either a 20 gauge shotgun or a powerful .22 aririfle for the availability, variety and low cost. as a bonus a little known fact is that a air rifle delivers more energy to small game than .22s and shotguns.
Use a 12 gauge
After many years of squirrel hunting I've settled on a Ruger 10/22, why? with a decent 3x9x32 scope I can hit a golf ball at 50yds, thats good enough. The Ruger is reasonably priced and can be modified to just about any configuration, I like it stock. The Marlin model 60 is another strong contender, maybe just a hair more accurate (rifle vs. carbine) either one will do the job, and you can practice very reasonably
