mossberg 500 combo around $300. or a remington 870 also around $300. i like the mossberg that is what is setting beside my bed.
I'm with kolbster. Go for a Mossberg 500.
Kolbster has it right. Those two models are right at the top of my list for economy grade shotguns. Flip a coin. You can't go wrong.
thanks guys ill go with the moss. thats what we trained with in boot
good choice, you might look at the mossberg 590 its still a pump, but its built to military specs.
i definatley agree with kolbster those would be my 2 top picks.
and thank you sir for your service
swapers day can get them $150-$200
thanks for your sevice for the military it takes alot of guts to risk your life for this country and you sure do have the guts. ii would go with the mossberg 590 military specs
i would check the px you may be able to order thier and save a little money my dad did when we were at fort reily ka but thats be many years ago
Tightliner,
I hope classes are going well for you.
As far as the shotgun recommendation, I'd agree to the Mossberg 500 or suggest the Rem 870 with 18.5 or 20-inch cylinder bore barrel. Both will serve the purpose well, and you purchase accessory barrels for both that'll optimize their versatility. I hope your folks never have to rely on it, but there's a lot of evil out there. Take care of yourself. Go Navy!

Tightliner, I asked this same basic question sometime back and got great info, just like your post. If you want more info, you can look at my profile, message board, firing line, I think it reads "shotgun for home defense", lots of good information offered. Thanks for your service, be safe, God bless.
thanks evryone
Any shot gun that fires faithfully works at point blank (as in self defense)
I would get a Benelli Vinci. It will kill anybody at close range with birdshot. And yet it is a high-grade shotgun that you can hunt with.
hello, I keep a remington 1100, 12 ga. 18 1/2" barrell, only holds 5 shells, 00 buck, make me feel safer at night. Old sailor, thanks for your service,
God Bless and stay safe.
Anyone who thinks that they need a gun for protection during the night needs a serious change of lifestyle.
mossberg or 870. both are industructible! make sure they buy good buckshot.
Benelli Nova Pump-279 on sale at times at Gander or Academy Sports-
a remington 870 is what i use for home defense and turkey hunting
remington 870, mossberg 500, or a benelli nova. the nove is 379 and the others cost less.
remington 870 is cheap and reliable
remington 870 is cheap and about the best shotgun you can buy for hunting and 12ga buckshot does a pretty good number on anything including crazy clowns
