Go to a Pawn Shop in your area.
Visit a couple of them,to see exactly what is available, and make sure you don't pay the asking price, wheel and deal with 'em.
Great buys can be had, especially in todays economy!
Different strokes for different folks/areas, but nobody in our area uses CB's anymore, too much noise, skip, and trash, we've all gone the ham radio route, cleaner, quieter, better distance.
When traveling to hunting Camp(300m) I have found a CB to be very valuable when confronted with traffic, roadblocks, closures, etc. The truckers are on top of it and willing to help a brother out.

Im sticking with CB. My old one just went out and I want a new one. The do the job great.
RadioShack has some good ones... You might be able to find one at a truckstop also.
Check some local junk/salvage yards. A lot of cars will still have some left in them.
Walmart has a Cobra 40 channel Mini . comes with power mike also there is a 13.00 dollar antenna close by. It doesn't require a SWR Meter check.
