Florida Child Turns In Adult Fishing Partners

By Dave Hurteau

From the Northwest Florida Daily News:

The adults were fishing with a child near the Archie Glover Boat Ramp. After [finding] that four of the five red drum [the anglers] had were undersize, [an officer] tried to get information. . . .

Both adults gave false names, but the child provided the correct names to the officer. Both had outstanding warrants, one for failure to pay child support and the other for failing to appear in court.

Good for you, kid! I love stories like this. Remember, if you want your kids to be honest, good people, you have to start by being one yourself.

Great story. I love a happy ending. By their example, these adults are teaching the kid to lie, violate the game laws & who knows what else. The sad part is that they'll go right back to teaching the kid the same lessons after a short stay in the pokie.

Did the kid get a "reward" for turning in these "poachers". He should. Great job kid, you did good.

Hope nothing bad happens to the kid in the aftermath of this one.

Interesting that the kid knew the right thing to do even though it appears the environment he is being raised in doesn't seem to care about right and wrong. God bless this child, hopefully his dead beat dad will start paying his child support.

There's a good honest kid, where did they all go?

It would have been much easier for this kid to lie just like the adults. And it is great to see that he did the right thing and told the truth!! I don't hear enough of these kinds of stories, thanks for sharing!

Lifetime hunting & fishing permit for this kid as a reward and reinforcement for honesty and ethics.

If he's between 5-12 years old, they're $701.50 in Florida. I'm in for $20.

I guess his form of child support was fishing... haha. Sounds like a great kid! The FWC officers down here are strict as hell and are on watch all the time... why would the guys even try and pull something like that off?

Way to go kid! All sportsmen are judged by the stupid actions of a few posers (i.e. the adults in this story).
